Shit and Shine is one of those band names it is hard to forget when you hear it. I had seen they had a Latitudes EP among their releases, which speaks well of them, but I had no idea how they sounded until I picked up their latest release, Cherry. This CD feels very organic on several layers but is manipulated all to hell and back. Interesting band and from what I understand some of the done is done through long distance collaboration.

I love Earthmonkey and hope I don't play them too much. What can I say about them that I haven't already.

I was prepared to pass on the Scott Tuma CD. He is mostly known for his work with some alt-country artists. Though I appreciate the moods of alt-country, most of it is too literal for me to listen to repeatedly. This CD was on Digitalis, letting me know I should give it a chance. On this CD Scott moves in a very Hala Strana/Steven Smith direction of atmospheric acoustics that really works well.

One of my favorite albums of the year so far is the neo Krautrock coolness of Cave's Hunt Like Devil. I kept hearing this track show up in shuffle, so I thought it was time to revisit the magnificence of Cave.

Ozmadawn was sent to me on a mix CD. The track is a great drone of progish keyboards with some other instrumentation and really washed me away in the sound. I loved the track and Dereck from Ozmadawn was gracious enough to let me play it. These guys apparently work with several psychedelic projects so I look forward to hearing more from them.

Pumice is a New Zealand songsmith that always buries his composition in a murk of noise. This is from his new CD Quo and its everything I have grown to expect from his releases. Songs in the back of a noise nightmare.

Blevin Blectum was highly recommended by Aquarius and I found her on emusic. Really great CD of old school electronica. She has other CDs I am presently looking for and I think she is doing some good things. Sort of like Ellen Allein, but more experimental.

Clinic is a strange band from Liverpool that does some really off kilter stuff. I love this track that ends their new CD.

Stromba was one of my first Jazz Concret obsessions on the show. I have probably played more tracks from this CD than any other single CD, so this week's flashback track is the first track I ever played from Stromba.

Two weeks, two C. Spencer Yeh tracks. This one is a collaboration with Aaron Dilloway, noise maestro extrodinaire. They put out this album as a vinyl and then as a CD with an extra track.

Moolah was an early 70s NY based Kraut/Garage influence. That is about all you will ever hear about them. This has been primarily a highly obscure piece of vinyl, with a hard to find tiny Japanese reissue (unauthorized) that made it a highly obscure CD. But everyone needs a good listen to this amazing CD.

The Fun Years are collage artists that I would put in a similar vein as Negativland, only more they make a more dense sound. I was looking for their new CD when I discovered their last one and it really delivers.
