Feathers was one of the first Home-Tapes bands I got permission to play. They had just release an awesome EP and here they are with another EP on emusic. Their sound has varied a little, but its easy to see how they all relate. This EP has a bit of a Stereolab feel to it at time, though it definitely isn't just a clone. I am always looking for new releases by these guys.

I first played Barn Owl a couple of months ago. They remind me of Blues Control with their DEconstructed psychedelia, but these guys definitely have their own take on that idea. They have a heavy feel without any big riffs or thunderous percussion.

I first played Health last fall. They are a really noisy and experimental band. I was waiting for this CD to hit emusic for a month now. This is a mix of the same track I played and is a real deconstruction of the track. Great mix from a CD of great mixes.

Black Mayonnaise once again deconstructs. This is Black Metal stripped down and just hits on all cylinders. I play a lot of Nadja which also does the Metal deconstruction, but this feels heavier. I really want to see this project become ultra prolific so I can see where this progresses.

The Flashback Track this week is by Shogun Kunitoki with a track from show 39. These guys are so great and they have a new CD that will be released soon. I feel like their last CD was like a late period M83 without the self-aware 80s references. SK seems more song conscious like the early M83 but more of a band like the latest. I am so looking forward to their latest.

I have played a track from each Indian Jewelry CD as I have gotten them. Their sound has continued to expand and their arrangements have matured and developed. I love the way it all is progressing. Some friends saw them live a couple of weeks ago and said their live show is amazing. If everyone in my house wasn't sick, that would have been a first hand report.

Lau Nau is another Finn, and really has a great history with a wide range of the freak folk acts that I have played here at one time or another. This CD is a couple of years old and apparently there is a new one coming out soon. This one is all over the map and will really appeal to the Avarus fans out there.

Pyramids are a Hydra Head band but sound so different than most of Hydra Head bands. Once again it is a deconstructed take on what Hydra Head bands usually sound like, like you took a good experimental metal band and smeared it all over the wall in a colorful mess. The CD comes with a bonus CD chock full of some even further deconstructed remixes. Over all this might be my favorite Hydra Head in a long time.

I first played a track from Slicing Grandpa a few months ago. I had gotten a 10" they had put out in a vinyl trade. Well I loved that record and when I requested permission to play from it the guys in SG sent me a whole stack of their vinyl. Really great stuff and I love the fact that there is so much of it. I am going to do a giveaway of some of the records they sent me soon.

I don't know much about AGF, beyond the fact it seems to be primarily a German producer that experiments a good deal with sounds. This particular track is based on the recitation of some letters and really makes the sounds become divorced from their meaning and akin to pure percussion.

I cannot say enough good things about the music I am hearing from Natural Snow Buildings. Their latest CD on Students of Decay is a double featuring NSB material along with music from two side projects, TwinSisterMoon and Isengrind. The CD is absolutely incredible and these guys need to be rock stars.

The Drift are a post rock 4 piece that have toured with Mono and other big names in the post rock scene. Their integration of horns really sets them apart from other post rock bands. I really think their CD is great and look forward to catching them live.
